I started this quilt over 7 years ago. It feels strange to finish a red, white and blue quilt during a time where I feel so sad about this country. At the same time, stitching this and watching it come together from so many old scraps and also embracing its imperfections has been hugely cathartic to me during this quarantine. It feels so good to wrestle something beautiful into existence right now, one tiny stitch at a time. The cyanotypes are the flowers and momentos from @everythinglastsforever and my wedding, and the bandanas were our napkins. I started this quilt when we first started dating, with the red (trail to treadlionia ) patterned side, the arrangement of which signifies a pioneer who has found their place or settled. After we got married I decided to make it a reversible quilt with the blue side, which is done in a Wells Of Happiness pattern typically used for weddings quilts, moving, or major life changes. Life has changed. I’m grateful to have found my person to weather the storms with, and I’ll always remember these strange times and all that it took for me to finally, almost a decade later, finish it. It’s a tradition to name each quilt so I am calling this one •At Home• because I’ve found my place and my people, I’m happy where I am, and also to remind myself to look for the silver linings in all of this.🤍💙❤️ #quilting #trailtotreadleoniaquilt #quiltersgonnaquilt
